Aquarium trip 7/9/10

Aquarium!
Sophia, Nicholas and I met Grandma Bonnie and her neice Kelly at the new aquarium in Phoenix. It was kind of expensive (18$ for adults) but it was free for the kids so 3 people for 18 bucks isn't too bad-and it was 111 degrees outside so I would have paid 18$ for airconditioning without all the pretty fishies! I started getting Sohia revved up about the aquarium by watching the Olivia episode where they go to the aquarium (thank you DVR!) and Finding Nemo- which she asks to watch every day anyway!  When we were getting ready to go, she says to me, "Mommy, there are fish at the aquarium?" Me: "Yes, Sophia." Phia: "I like fish. They taste so good." Not exactly in the spirit of the aquarium, but definitely ready to go see some fish. We did sort of a Finding Nemo scavenger hunt. We saw Nemo, Peach (the starfish- we were allowed to touch her, I did it, but Sophia wasn't having it!), Gil, Bloat, the sharks, jellyfish, Jacque- the shrimp from the fish tank, a ray (the school teacher- "Let's name the zones, the zones, the zones, let's name the zones of the open seeeeeeea!"), and others. Sophia was a little timid when we first went in, because it is dark and foriegn, but she quickly relaxed and ultimately had a wonderful time! Nicholas enjoyed himself, too. He was really good. He liked to be near the tanks, though and would fuss if I pushed him out of the way, into a dark corner. He sat happily mesmerized near the tanks. Sophia really enjoyed seeing grandma Bonnie, too. At one point I asked Bonnie to take a picture of me with the kids in the water tunnel and Sophia did not want to come to me, she wanted Bonnie to pick her up! Well, I never!
Afterward, we got some ice cream and Sophia and I went on a carousel ride.  That was so fun, she loved it, and kept throwing her head back and laughing!  It was so cute.
