Halloween...

Halloween has always been one of my favorite holidays.  It is my little brother's birthday which has always made it extra special in my house.  I loved trick or treating and Halloween parties as a kid and now as an adult with my own children, I get to express myself creatively, making their costumes, crafting and baking!  Here is a picture of the inspiration for Sophia and Nicholas' costumes.  Sophia loves Olivia (the little pig) and she just happens to have a baby brother, just like Olivia.  Although she wanted to be a different thing every ten seconds, I decided to make her this costume, knowing she would not reject it on the big day...

I made these loot bags out of felt squares.  They were pretty easy, I just ebroidered the felt, then sewed three sides together, pinched the bottom corners and sewed across them and then added a handle!  Presto!  Loot bags!  I did not realize a one year old and two two year olds would be able to fill them up so fast!  We went around the block and that was it, still filled that bugger up!

Daddy and Phia carving pumpkins...you can see my sewing mess in the background...

I made this little spooky bowtie for Nichol with my embroidery machine.  I embroidered on white felt and then cut it out, sandwhiched batting between two peices of felt, cut it out and glued it together.  Then I fastened it to an orange shirt with a safety pin.  He looks so debonair!

Hakeem,  Easa and Caitlin...Easa came trick or treating with us and was the cutest little dinosaur you ever saw!  He had a great time, and was so excited about knocking on doors, that he fell into someone's house when he was trying to open a door!  It was so funny!

Sophia's ears flopped around all night!  She would get stage fright at every door and did not say ,"Trick or treat."  She did say, "Thank you," though...

Trick or treating really wore Nicholas out.  I love how he did not care about keeping his ears on.  He was just happy!

Sophia lording over her loot.  Don't worry, I checked through her candy like my parents always checked through mine.  I saved all the Almond Joys and Reeses cups, they looked suspicious....

My baby William, crawling around...

I made some spooky cupcakes!

It was a wonderful, relaxing Halloween, and although we did not have a party like usual, we did end up sharing a bing pot of chile verde with friends that stopped by.  In addition to Caitlin, Easa, Hakeem and Caitlin's brother, Jaron, we also had Valerie and her boys drop by, some of Jer's work friends and their kids and Tina, George and Laci along with some of their friends stopped by.  It was a good time.
