So here is the story. I made chocolate chip/walnut cookies, which are really, really yummy. One of my favorite recipes. Everything was going fine, but there were some lumps in my brown sugar, so I planned to use the beaters to break down the chunks. I was using a rubber spatula to scrape the bowl and trying to break down the chunks, and my spatula got sucked into the beater, pulling my fingers with it! One of the beaters was pulled out by the force, but the other kept right on spinning its whirly death spiral. I was pretty freaked out and it hurt like an SOB. I thought I may have broken my middle finger. I didn't. I just scraped it up and bruised it. It is still sore today! Really, who does this stuff happen to?

Here is Sophia helping me make Baby Nicholas' baby food. She is so cute. She was in the kitchen all day, cooking with me. She helped me peel carrots, too. She wants to help so much! She just got this new stool at Ikea, and she pushes it around the kitchen or picks it up and moves it to where she needs it. It is so cute. Finally a stool she can see over the top of the counter with! I also got these cool ice cube trays at Ikea. I froze the baby food in these for future servings. The rice cereal is in the hearts and I filled up two flower trays and one heart tray of carrots! We also got some whole fryers at Fry's for $.49 a pound- great deal! So I put one in a crock pot with white wine, onions and carrots (and some seasoning) and the other I just put into a crock pot with nothing else. I call the first "crock a vin", the other I just shredded and put in food saver bags for later. I had a pretty productive day. Today, I sew!
Ok Pam, did I never tell you about the scars on my left pinky and ring finger?? I did the exact same thing when I was ten. Except, the beater didn't fall out and my fingers jammed the mixer. I had the sense to turn it off but not to try to pop the beaters out. I was still standing there with my fingers in the beaters holding the mixer when my Mom came to help. Instead of the cake for Mother's Day, she got a trip to the emergency room. I really thought that I was the only one who ever did this.
ReplyDeleteI am sooo glad that you are ok!!! And, I am very glad that Sophia is enjoying helping cooking!!
I love and miss you!! I cannot wait for you visit!
Mmmm..cookies. I think I will make some today. I think it can be dangerous to make cookies ;) Last week Leena dropped the small measuring cup in the bowl. Luckily it spit outthe opposite direction and hit the wall instead of hitting us. Glad you're finger isn't broken. Ouch! Good job on making your own napping shorts and baby food! You're so good!
