Trip to New Mexico

We had a wonderful trip to New Mexico.  Virginia was very happy to spend time with her grandkids.  She is so awesome, Sophia and I shared a bed, and Virgina took Nicholas in her room overnight.  The first few nights I still woke up at 3-4am out of habit, but then, blissfully, I slept through the night for two nights in a row!  At least 7 hours strung together!  It was amazing.  Now I am back to the real world, but between the heat and the sleep deprivation, I am really feeling the urge to go visit again!
Jeremy came up with the brilliant idea (when I expressed indecision about whether to put Sophia in a diaper for the long trip or just have her go on the side of the road-there are very few bathrooms between Casa Grande and the ranch) of bringing Phia's potty chair and just plopping it on the side of the road when she says she needs to go.  She fell asleep as we left the house and woke up, predictably at the bottom of the Salt River Canyon.  Her first words after waking were, "I need to make peeps."  I pulled over at an overlook as soon as I could and she made peeps in one of (in my oppinion) the most scenic places in Arizona.  Thus began a photo essay of all of the beautiful places along the way that we stopped for her to pee.  I have pictures of her making peeps in front of beautiful, tall pines in Show Low, grassy plains outside of Springerville.  It turned out to be a stroke of genius bringing that potty chair, so I have to give lots of love to my husband for that great idea.  She did not make a single accident in the car and is even dry overnight, no regressing on the diapers for the car trip.  She did amazing.  I am so proud of her!
