Sophia is an amazing two year old. She has an awesome vocabulary, who knows how many words she knows but it far surpasses the 30 to 50 of an average 2 year old. What really impresses me, though, is her imagination and sponge like ability to absorb what she sees around her. I make up stupid songs for her all the time. She will ask for an ocean song, and if I can't think quickly of a song about the ocean, I will write my own. Sophia has started to do this. About two or three months ago, she was singing Twinkle Star, one of her favorites (she knows all three verses, where most adults I know only know one!) and she starts to stylize it by peppering "little baby" here and there throughout the song. "Twinkle, twinkle little baby, little star. How I wonder, little baby, what you are..." I have know idea where she got that, but it is so cute. More recently, she has started writing whole songs (not like the Beatles or anything, but it is still pretty new.) Maybe two or three sentences that she sings over and over and are not ones that I have taught her.
Tonight, I was comforting Nicholas, who was in a foul mood due to his shots and Sophia went and got Baby Jayne (still her favorite Auntie KaLee :)) and started to mimic me, the way I held Nicholas, how I was talking softly to him, the way I bounced him. It was looking in a funhouse mirror that makes everything you do cute. Then she put Baby Jayne and Minnie Mouse in time out. She really cracks me up!
Our little genius!! Thank you sooo much for sharing these things! It is wonderful to hear about them grow since I cannot be there! I am very glad that you started blogging! Love and Miss You!
